Milford, PA — Wayne Bank will be conducting a “Wish List” collection drive for the Center for Developmental Disabilities of Pike County beginning Monday, May 2nd through Tuesday, May 31st at each of Wayne Bank’s Pike County Community Offices which are located in Milford, Shohola and Lords Valley. The Bank is asking for the public’s support to help the Center for Developmental Disabilities by collecting items the center needs such as facial tissues, paper towels, toilet paper, washable finger paints, play dough, washable white glue, construction paper, thick magic markers and crayons, as well as many other items that can be found on a wish list which the bank employees will be distributing at their branch offices.

According to Mary Alice Petzinger, Regional Vice President of Wayne Bank’s Pike County Community Offices, “Each year we promote a nonprofit organization within our region that makes a difference to our community. We chose the Center for Developmental Disabilities due to their heartfelt dedication to young children in the community”. Wayne Bank is accepting donations throughout the month of May and will have an “Open House” at the three Community Offices on May 20th as a token of their appreciation to their customers for their support. The public is encouraged to stop by any of the community offices to pick up a more detailed list of the items needed for the Center, and to attend the “Open House”.

The collection cans were donated by Pike County Commissioner Richard Caridi and Mr. Matthew Osterberg. Mr. Caridi and Mr. Osterberg were very excited to participate in this wonderful project for CDD. Mrs. Carol Osterberg volunteered to oversee the project and assisted the students with decorating each can on Friday, April 15th. “We are glad to assist CDD with such a great project, stated Commissioner Caridi. “The early intervention and educational services that the CDD provides for the children living in Pike County are critical to the families who need their services on a year around basis,” he added.

CDD’s mission is to provide early intervention, early educational and therapeutic services for children with developmental disabilities and delays ages 0 to 5. It is their goal to maximize each child’s potential while giving them the opportunity for growth and development in a setting that meets their individual needs and concerns. CDD is committed to educating the community regarding the special needs of children living in Pike County and advocating on behalf of all children and their families.

“I would like to thank the employees of Wayne Bank for this wonderful opportunity and to encourage the public to volunteer to help CDD in any way that they can,” stated Diane Chudoba, Vice President of Development. For further information regarding the Center for Developmental Disabilities of Pike County, please call (570) 296-3992 ext. 64 or log onto www.cddkids.org or you may visit them to take a tour of their center located just outside Milford Borough at 101 Pocono Drive.

Milford, PA – Delaware Valley High School students, Macy Decker and Carly Odynsky have raised $140.00 for the Center for Developmental Disabilities (CDD) of Pike County, Ltd. The two students became involved with CDD as a part of their Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Community Awareness Service Project, which was to promote community awareness using issues that may be local, state or of national interest. As a part of this project they needed to become more aware of the pros and cons of the issue that they had selected, as well as promote goodwill and public relations for local HOSA chapters.

Macy and Carly sold candy bars to their friends and family for donations of $1.00 each, as well as held a bake sale at Arnold’s Country Mini-Mart in Dingmans Ferry, PA. “Everyone was happy to donate to the CDD and thought it was a great cause,” Macy stated. “Our goal is to raise money to help the CDD to purchase educational supplies for their classrooms, as well as let our community know how vital the services and programs are for children that they serve,” she added. The girls created signs and displayed flyers for the bake sale in order to help create awareness of the CDD and its mission. Macy and Carly will be presenting their final community awareness service project pertaining to the CDD at the Pennsylvania HOSA competition in March.

HOSA is a national student organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the Health Science Education Division for the Association for Career and Technical Education. This year’s list of venues includes many fantastic restaurants and specialty shops, including the charming Irene’s Kitchen. Located on East Ann Street, in Milford Irene’s Kitchen provides everything you need for the perfect, delectable dessert.
Irene’s Kitchen offers a variety of delicious custom cakes and candies. Their adorably sweet products include everything from home-made fudge, delicious ice cream and old-fashion candies to gifts, stuffed toys and even craft classes.
The CDD would like to thank Irene’s Kitchen for their support and contribution to the Chefs Do Dinner event.

This year’s list of venues includes many fantastic restaurants, including Milford’s own Fretta’s. Fretta’s Italian Food Specialties, established in 1906, is America’s oldest pork store and now supplies Milford with the best authentic Italian food in the area.

Fretta’s is owned and operated by Joseph and Denice Fretta, who opened the store in 1998. Some of their savory Italian specialties include fresh mozzarella made daily, a variety of delicious parmigianas, a prosciutto panini with their fresh mozzarella, roasted peppers & pesto, and of course, the best store-made cannolis in town.

The CDD would like to thank Fretta’s for their support and contribution to the Chefs Do Dinner event.
